The band
Snax.band, née Dance Plant, formed in late 2019.
Whilst many of the band members originally know each other through the South London Jazz Orchestra, we’ve also jammed with musicians from all around London’s music circuits.
Originally formed as a musical theatre covers band, we quickly discovered audiences were vibing with the crowd pleasers where fewer people die tragically in the second act. From there, the band morphed into a party-tune machine with horns, vocals and rhythm section—and an almost irresponsible commitment to getting people dancing.

The musicians
Several musicians have played with Snax over the years, either as former permanent members or the occasional dep. But the group of 9 musicians below are the ones who make up the current Snax.band lineup.
Emma
Alto + Bari Sax / Founder + Musical Director
Emma plays alto, soprano and baritone saxophone, and is the musical director of Snax.band—a role requiring patience, authority and the ability to get nine musicians to start and finish a song at the same time.
In her time as a seasoned musician, she has already started multiple bands and ensembles, championed representation for women in music and jazz, and has overseen Snax’s development over the years, turning it into the entertainment machine it remains to this day.
Alex
Trombone / Social Media
Alex plays trombone for Snax.band, works as a doctor for the NHS, and handles the band’s social media, because apparently one high-pressure public service role was not enough.
Able to smash out incredible trombone solos, Alex also brings the ability to set up the band’s tech, create hysterical Instagram reels, and—when required—actual medical support, a service he genuinely once deployed at a gig when an audience member needed help.
Dave
Tenor Sax + Clarinet
Dave plays tenor saxophone and clarinet for Snax.band, though it feels disrespectful to reduce a man of his stature to a list of instruments.
He also plays guitar, runs a podcast on the environment, and is widely understood to be an all-round legend. Within music circles across London, he is known as the person who keeps bands and audiences in perfect sync just by being in the room and keeping his head held high.
Lydia
Vocals
Lydia sings for Snax.band with warmth, power and the emotional range of someone who has looked into a cat’s eyes and understood civilisation.
She loves cats. She really loves cats. She has repeatedly declared that, if she never needed to work again, she’d spend her time singing to befriend the entire feline community of London, in a fantasy potentially inspired by the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
Maria
Bass Guitar
Maria plays bass for Snax.band with the quiet intensity of someone who would rather not be perceived, except during bass solos, when perception becomes briefly mandatory.
She does not like the spotlight, but she does slap the bass like a machine. She can deliver a solo so precise that it’s believed manufacturers often use her to calibrate metronomes.
Kieran
Trumpet + Sousaphone
Kieran plays trumpet for Snax.band with the calm neutrality of a man issuing a weather report during a minor constitutional crisis.
He dislikes “Sir Duke” by Stevie Wonder, though he describes this only as “one possible response to the material”. He loves “You Know My Name” by Chris Cornell, but would prefer not to let that cause division.
Felix
Keyboard
Felix plays keyboard for Snax.band with the quiet demeanour of a man who suspects the resignation of a man who knows, sooner or later, someone is going to ask him to play in C major.
He hates C major. He considers it musically beige and morally unserious. Within the band, he’s known as the player who can modulate out of C major before anyone has started counting in.
Tommy
Guitar / Webmaster
Tommy plays electric guitar for Snax.band, except on occasions when he magnanimously picks up the bass and pretends this was always part of the plan.
Exceptionally handsome, able to play seven instruments and speak 3 languages (4 if you include JavaScript), Tommy has filled every role in Snax’s rhythm section during a gig at least once. When not playing music, he is also a portrait photographer, digital marketer and web developer.
Anél
Drums
Anél plays drums for Snax.band with the incredible precision of someone who can keep nine musicians in time without appearing remotely stressed. She is known for possessing a quality almost impossible to find in drummers worldwide: the ability to play with a dynamic range.
Originally from South Africa, she is also extremely good at crafts, a skill she has applied to creating various Snax artefacts—because apparently being the band’s rhythmic foundation is not enough responsibility.
