Wedding Function Band in London

A full 9-piece live band for the part of the day when it’s time to celebrate.

Snax.band are a 9-piece wedding function band based in South London, playing jazz, rock, funk, pop and crowd-pleasing classics for weddings across London and beyond.

  • No polite background music disappearing into the atmosphere.
  • No awkward gap after the first dance where everyone suddenly forgets how parties work.
  • No “just stick a playlist on!” energy for the biggest social event you’re likely to organise.

Just live music, familiar tunes and proper wedding entertainment from a band built to help the evening feel warm, lively and properly celebratory.

Whether you’re planning a London wedding reception, an evening party or a full day with relaxed music earlier on, the aim is simple: make the room feel alive without turning your wedding into a weird corporate awards show with cake.

Wedding entertainment has one critical job

By the time the evening party starts, a lot has already happened.

The ceremony is done. The speeches have survived contact with reality. Everyone has eaten, hugged, taken photos, lost someone’s aunt, found her again, and possibly formed strong opinions about the seating plan.

Then, the music starts.

This is where the evening changes

And this is where the night can either lift…

…or slowly drift.

Because wedding entertainment isn’t just “some music in the room”.

It needs to shift the atmosphere from formal to fun. It needs to bring different groups together. It needs to get friends, family, colleagues, cousins and people who have never met before into the same shared bit of the night.

And if it falls short? The reception can end up feeling:

  • pleasant…but flat
  • technically fine…just not memorable
  • split between the bar, the tables and the smoking area
  • like everyone is waiting for someone else to start dancing
  • slightly too polite for a wedding party

A playlist can fill the silence.

But a live wedding band can change the room.

Bring in a 9-piece London function band built for the party part of the day!

Snax.band brings female vocals, a four-piece live horn section and a full rhythm section to songs people actually know.

That means drums, bass, keys, guitar, sax, trumpet, trombone and vocalists working together to create a much bigger live sound than a standard background act or small party band.

  • We aren’t here to play tasteful background music while everyone waits for the DJ.
  • Nor are we a function band trying to make your wedding feel like a hotel conference.
  • And we’re definitely not a Spotify playlist with matching shoes.

We’re a live wedding band for couples who want their evening reception to feel like a proper celebration: familiar songs, big arrangements, a dance floor that actually gets used, and enough musical range to keep different guests involved.

Live music for wedding receptions, evening parties and big celebrations

Snax.band works especially well for the part of the wedding where the formalities are done and the room is ready to loosen up.

We’re a great fit for:

Evening receptions

For the main party set after dinner, speeches and the first dance—when you want the night to truly lift!

Wedding parties

For celebrations where guests need more than background music and a half-remembered playlist from someone’s uni days.

First dance into party set

We can help move the room from the first dance into the full party section, so the moment doesn’t hang awkwardly while everyone looks at each other wondering what happens next.

Mixed-age dance floors

Wedding guests usually span several decades, several friendship groups and at least one uncle with surprisingly strong opinions about music. A broad live repertoire helps more people find their way in.

Drinks, dinner and smoother moments

Snax.band can also add a smaller jazz setup to your full-band booking, which works well earlier in the day for drinks, dinner or lower-key parts of the wedding before the full band takes over.

Big London wedding receptions

If you want your evening party to feel large, energetic and properly live, the full 9-piece band gives the room scale.

The exact setup depends on your venue, timings and the kind of wedding you’re planning.

But, the aim is always the same: live music that helps the night move from “lovely day” to “proper celebration”, without making the evening feel forced or disconnected from the rest of the wedding.

Full wedding band, with an optional jazz add-on

Optional jazz add-on

Drinks, dinner and smoother parts of the day.

Full 9-piece wedding band

Vocals, horns, rhythm section and proper party energy.

Not every part of a wedding needs the same kind of music.

Sometimes you want something relaxed earlier on: live jazz or swing while guests arrive, chat, eat, drink or move between parts of the day.

And sometimes, you want the full 9-piece band: vocals, horns, rhythm section and crowd-pleasing songs to get people onto the dance floor.

Then, sometimes you want both!

That’s where Snax.band works exceptionally well.

We’re a group of experienced musicians who can play a smaller jazz setup for drinks, dinner or a reception, then bring in the full band when it’s time for the evening party.

  • Smaller jazz setup for drinks, dinners and smoother moments, so the day has live music without overwhelming conversation.
  • Full 9-piece wedding band for the evening party, so the reception has scale, energy and a proper live sound.
  • Flexible set lists, so the music can fit your guests, not just a generic wedding playlist.
  • First dance discussion so we can work out what’s possible and how to move from that moment into the party.
  • Playlist between sets so the atmosphere doesn’t suddenly disappear when the band takes a break.
  • Live horns and rhythm section so familiar songs feel bigger, punchier and more memorable.

If you aren’t sure what setup(s) make sense, that’s totally normal.

Most people don’t spend all day comparing wedding band lineup options (probably healthy).

Tell us what you’re planning and we’ll help you work out what fits the day!

Wedding band or DJ?

Both can work brilliantly. They just do different jobs.

A DJ is brilliant for…

Flexibility and continuous music

If you want non-stop tracks, very specific song requests, club-style mixing or a huge range of genres across the whole night, a great DJ is probably the perfect choice.

  • Very specific song requests
  • Club-style mixing
  • A huge range of genres
  • Continuous tracks across the night

A live band is brilliant for…

Energy and a sense of occasion

A live wedding band does a different job: it changes the feeling of the room.

You get real people on stage, meaning you get all the little moments that happen when musicians are reacting to the crowd in front of them. It gives an evening the sense of occasion that a playlist or a DJ usually can’t create.

  • Musicians reacting to the room
  • Big live arrangements
  • Audience participation
  • A party that feels like an event

With Snax.band, you don’t need to commit to just one feeling for the whole night either.

We’ve also played weddings where a DJ takes over after the band, with the practical setup agreed in advance.

A DJ is great for total flexibility, but a live band is great when you want the party to feel like more of an event.

If you want familiar tunes, bombastic solos and guests getting involved, that’s where Snax works best.

Familiar songs, live arrangements and enough energy to fill the dance floor

Wedding crowds are wonderfully chaotic.

Different ages. Different music tastes. Family, friends, work people, school people, plus someone your partner insists is “basically family” even if you still aren’t really sure how.

So, the set needs to be broad enough to bring people into it without being bland.

Our extensive repertoire mixes jazz, swing, soul, funk, rock, pop and crowd-pleasing classics, arranged by members of the band specifically for vocals, horns and rhythm section.

Here’s what’s on offer:

  • Jazz and swing for drinks, dinner or a smoother start to the evening.
  • Soul, funk and groove for warmth, rhythm and movement.
  • Rock, pop and indie favourites for guests who want songs they recognise without the night feeling generic.
  • 90s, disco and crowd-pleasing classics for the big sing-along moments.
  • A few ridiculous surprises for the right crowd. Because, sometimes the correct wedding choice is exactly the song no one expected but everyone somehow knows.

We aren’t here to prove how obscure our taste is.

We’re here to play songs people recognise, arrange them with proper live-band energy and to help guests feel like they’re part of the evening.

Built for mixed wedding crowds

Familiar enough to join in. Live enough to feel special.

Professional setup without making your wedding planning harder

One of the biggest headaches with live wedding music is working out what needs to be arranged separately.

Well, with Snax.band, the answer is: not much.

What we bring

  • instruments (inc. drum kit, keyboard, amplifiers)
  • microphones/clip mics
  • full sound system, including mixing desk and front-of-house speakers
  • stage lighting
  • all the cabling you can imagine

All we need

  • a source of power
  • access for setup
  • space for the band
  • space to park a van nearby

You don’t need to arrange…

  • a separate sound engineer
  • a separate band PA
  • extra cabling
  • separate microphones
  • a separate lighting setup for the band

We can also discuss playlist music for between sets, microphones for speeches and how the timing should work around dinner, speeches, the first dance and the evening reception.

Less mystery. Fewer suppliers. Fewer “wait, who was meant to bring the sound system?” moments.

How much does it cost to hire Snax.band for a wedding?

For the full 9-piece band, our standard wedding pricing starts from:

Up to 1 hour

£1,875

Full 9-piece band

Every full-band booking includes

  • PA equipment for the whole event
  • lighting
  • up to 2 new song arrangements, where they’re suitable for the band

The price doesn’t rise neatly hour-by-hour since the biggest cost is getting the band and setup to and from your wedding in the first place. If you’re booking more than one setup (for example, a smaller jazz setup earlier in the day and the full band later on), we’ll price that as one joined-up booking rather than treating each part as a completely separate event.

The final quote will depend on your venue, location, timings and what setup(s) you want.

Send us your date, venue and rough timings and we’ll let you know what makes sense.

Why book Snax.band for your wedding?

That’s simple: wedding music needs to do more than exist.

It needs to bring people together, keep the night moving and make the evening feel like a celebration rather than a polite ending to a lovely day.

Here’s what makes Snax.band different:

A 9-piece live band

…gives your reception scale and presence, so the evening feels like a proper event rather than a dance floor accompanied by “Spotify on shuffle”.

Female vocals, rhythm section and horns

…which create a full live sound, so the music feels energetic, warm and genuinely performed.

A versatile repertoire

…helps with mixed-age wedding crowds, so more guests have a way into the music.

Full band or smaller jazz setup

…gives you options, so drinks, dinner and dancing can feel connected rather than stitched together.

Self-contained sound and lighting setup

…reduces planning faff, so you have fewer suppliers and technical details to manage.

Room-first performance

…keeps the focus on the guests (not to mention, the happy couple!) so the band supports the wedding rather than hijacking it.

The best live wedding entertainment shouldn’t make guests feel like they’re watching something separate from the day.

It should help them feel part of it, too!

Wedding band FAQs

Both! Snax are a South London-based 9-piece function band available for weddings, parties, corporate events and celebrations across London and beyond.

For weddings, we focus on live music that helps the evening reception feel energetic, warm and genuinely fun—without forced wedding band cheese.

We can play London wedding receptions, evening parties, drinks receptions, dinners, larger celebrations and weddings where you want both relaxed live music earlier on and a full band later.

If you’re not sure what to book, send us the details of your wedding and we’ll let you know what we think is a good fit!

Yes. A smaller jazz setup can work well for drinks, dinner, networking between families or any part of the day that needs live background music.

The full 9-piece band is best for the evening party, dancing and the higher-energy part of the reception.

Possibly, depending on the song, timings and arrangement.

If you know what song you want for the first dance, mention it when you enquire. We’ll let you know whether it’s something we can arrange for the band or whether it would work better as a played track through the speakers.

Our repertoire includes jazz, swing, soul, funk, rock, pop, indie, disco and crowd-pleasing classics, arranged for our setup of female vocals, horns and rhythm section.

The aim is familiar songs with proper live-band energy.

Yes. We bring our own sound system, microphones, mixing desk, speakers, cabling and band lighting.

You usually won’t need to arrange a separate sound engineer, band PA or microphones.

Yes, we can provide mics for speeches where needed.

Please mention when you enquire so we can factor it into the setup and timings.

Yes. During intermissions, or after the live set finishes, our speakers can be used to play a playlist (or even by a DJ).

Useful for keeping the atmosphere going between sets. Not quite the same as a 9-piece function band, but then, very few things are!

For the full band, we’ll normally need access to the performance space at least 90 minutes before we start.

That gives us time to set up the instruments, run cabling, check the sound system and make sure everything is working as expected.

Packing down is usually faster; we’ll normally be clear about an hour after we finish playing.

Yes, up to £5 million.

Many wedding venues ask for proof of insurance before confirming live entertainment, so please mention any required docs when you enquire. We can then make sure the practical bits are covered early.

It honestly depends on what you want from the evening.

A DJ is usually better if you want continuous music, club-style mixing or a huge range of very specific requests.

A live wedding band is better if you want the reception to feel like a proper live event, with musicians reacting to the room and creating a bigger sense of occasion.

Send us the date, venue or location, event type and rough timings through the enquiry form.

We’ll check availability and come back with anything else we need to know.

Planning a wedding reception in London?

Your wedding evening doesn’t need to fade politely into the background after dinner.

It can feel lively, warm and properly celebratory with familiar songs, live-band energy and guests who stop pretending they’re “not really dancers”.
